Tasmania is a place of welcoming people, a rich history, wild and beautiful landscapes, and National Trust icon, BOWERBANK MILL. With its majestic Georgian façade and towering chimney, Bowerbank Mill is a wondrous sight to behold. In 1853 an enterprising widow built a flour mill in the hauntingly beautiful Meander Valley near the Colonial village of Deloraine.
The 155 year old mill now operates as a world class heritage Bed and Breakfast, Fine Art Gallery and Gift shop. Due to the diligence and love of previous and current owners, (your hosts Anne & J.D.) Bowerbank Mill maintains its impressive architecture - thick stone walls, pit-sawn beams, and log fire in the six-storey chimney - all create an imposing and charming appearance.
Bowerbank Mill B&B offers a poetic marriage of nostalgia and 20th century comfort with emphasis on excellent but unobtrusive service. In each cottage, suite, or room your hosts have recreated the atmosphere of an early settlers' family home with genuine antique furniture, paintings and trinkets brought as reminders of a former life. Each cottage and suite has its own authentic individuality with sweeping views over the pretty gardens and country.
Relaxation begins the moment you arrive. Browse through our Fine Art and Craft Gallery and savour a port in your cottage beside a blazing log fire. Next morning, awake to the smell of a gourmet continental breakfast delivered to your door. Explore the area, hiking mountain trails, fish for trout, visit caves, vineyards, cheese-makers, raspberry farms, national trust properties, antique shops and galleries.
At Bowerbank Mill B&B there is a place for singles, couples, families and groups up to 18 people. Theme stays and Creative Retreats are available. Any suggestions??? The possibilities are endless!

Great historic mill converted into a B&B. Several different accomodation types available such as cosy rooms with lofts & some 2 or 3 bedroom apartments.

Everything is decorated with lovely antiques & collections by the hostess Anne, an entirely charming place to stay!

We stayed in the Meander Suite, it's the best damn B&B we have EVER been to!!

Get yourself to Deloraine & stay in this historic place, there is plenty to do in the area.

Locality

The area around Bowerbank Mill B&B has much to offer. Some of the attractions include the following.
The historic town of Deloraine has much to offer; from the spectacular views of the Great Western Tiers Mountain range to the wonderful four panelled silk artwork, YARNS, or a relaxing riverside walk along the Meander River. With luck you may even spot a resident platypus swimming in the River on its search for food.

Trowunna Wildlife Park near Mole Creek offers a great opportunity to get up close to some of Tasmania’s wildlife in a natural bushland setting. You can hand feed kangaroos and wallabies as you walk around or go on a guided tour to learn more about these amazing animals and to watch Tasmanian Devils being hand-fed.

Enjoy a guided tour of King Solomons Cave, in Karst National Park, and be amazed by the spectacular subterranean features to be found in these ancient limestone caves.

Within an easy drive of the MUST SEE Cradle Mountain, and it’s many ‘levels of difficulty’ hiking tracks, from the boardwalk around tranquil Dove Lake to a hike up Cradle Mountain, and the overwhelming beauty and splendour of the scenic grandeur.

And if you feel like hiking closer to Bowerbank Mill B&B then the Great Western Tiers offers many walks, some more challenging than others, but all with spectacular views.

Bowerbank Mill B&B is also a very short drive to the many small beaches to the north. And we could go ‘on and on’ but why not come and stay and see for yourself.

As we are a small business and do not run a 24hr desk could we please have your arrival time to help with planning our time (between 2pm and 6pm), We have a checkout time of 10am (unless otherwise arranged).
