Mas Camps is situated in the foothills of the Pyrenees, surrounded by vineyards. In this idyllic setting, we offer you an escape from the hustle and bustle of city life and yet we are only 20 minutes from the dynamic city of Perpignan with it's convenient daily connections to London, Toulouse and Barcelona. Although in the country, we are within 30 minutes of the Spanish border, about 40 minutes from the beach resort of Canet Plage, under an hour and a half to the ski resorts and 2½ hours from Andorra making this an excellent base for exploring the region.
In Mas Camps today we offer you the commanding scenery for which it was selected first as a Roman camp (hence the name) over 2000 years ago and in the 12th century as one of the Templar encampments in Rousillon (see our history for more on this) and the opportunity to select from the descendants of the vines which made it so attractive for over 1000 years in our restaurant and from which we take the themes for our rooms. We hope to make you feel truly a part of the beautiful landscape that surrounds Mas Camps.
LocalityIn the present day there are innumerable attractions within a short walk or drive of us. Our regional guide covers these in more detail but briefly, you have within 15 minutes the opportunity to view cycle races (some of which go straight past our door), take mountain bike or walking tours (the 12 day Sentiere Cathare takes you along some of the Cathar history or the region and within sight of Mas Camps), sample the best of French haute cuisine, learn French, meet the earliest man in Europe, and taste the wine, to mention but a few things within 15 minutes of us. Extend your journey to an hour and you will add the mediterranean beaches, numerous castles, canal trips, Roman roads and festivals throughout the summer and Spain.
For those of you just passing through on your way to or from Spain or Portugal we offer an ideal stopping point along the way in the heart of the Catalan countryside with its mix of French and Spanish cultures. PropertyMas Camps offers a mix of ensuite double and family rooms (maximum of two adults, one child and a baby in the family rooms). We also have a separate self-catering apartment.
