Well situated for exploring the Forestier and Tasman Peninsulas which includes Cape Reoul , Cape Pillar, Waterfall bay and Fortesque bay State Reserves. Walking trails in these areas range from easy 20 minutes walks to more extensive 1, 2, or even 3 day hikes. Take an Eco Boat Tour and experience the towering crags, islands, marine wildlife and wave cut sea caves as you cruise beneath the highest cliffs in the southern hemisphere.
Pristine surf and swimming beaches are nearby.
Have a game of golf, play tennis, fish from the jetty.
Enjoy a coffee or lunch on the deck at the neighbouring Waterfront Cafe.
LocalityDunalley is a fishing village built around the 100 year old man-made Denison Canal. This canal, built to give easier access from Hobart to the east coast of Tasmania, cuts through the narrow neck of land which connects the Forestier Peninsula to the rest of the island.
A swing bridge is still in operation over the canal. The original name of the village was East Bay Neck and it is flanked to the south by Dunalley Bay and to the north by Blackman Bay.
Dunalley lies halfway between Hobart and Port Arthur and a visit to the former penal settlement is a must when in the area.
Take advantage of the nearby restaurant, local fish market or historic Dunalley Hotel. PropertyCasilda House is named after the fishing boat “Casilda” built on this site in 1915. The boat is still in excellent condition and is the last remaining traditional cray fishing boat in Tasmania.
This absolute waterfront homestead has been lovingly restored by its current owners with the aim of retaining its original charm.
