Chesleigh has pets of its own , elderly cats, 2 dogs, working horses, free range chickens and other guests and we therefore insist that visiting pets are under control at all times.Local authority health regulations do not allow dogs to sleep in guest bedrooms.

Chesleigh offers country holidays from dinner, B&B ,weekends away, weddings& conferences to family holidays in school holiday time. Our range of facilities and activities caters for all, from horse riding, bushwalking and goldpanning for the energetic, to massage, snoozing ,eating and soaking in the spa for those who need to rejuvenate. Chesleigh is famous for its open fires, genuine home cooking, the beautiful ambiance of the lovely gardens amidst the bush setting and the entertainment offered by your host.Our bedrooms are all different, country in style, clean (of course)and comfortable. Our big games room is famous and is as comfortable for an all adult house as for families. There are no electronic games, just the ones which require communication and old fashioned skills.

After 30 years of operation and 90% repeat business, there are too many words of praise to list here, but the most common comments are about our wonderful cooking, the friendly horses, the brilliant entertainment and our level of hostmanship.

Locality

Sofala is in the heart of the Turon goldfields, the cradle of gold mining in Australia, such a vital part of our history. In the foothills of the 'Great Divide' our country is hilly, forested and boasts 3 gold bearing creeks and at 2000feet has a wonderful climate, air like champagne and crystal clear water.The area abounds with history and there are now 2 award winning museums at Sofala,similar attractions at Hill End and Bathurst. Chesleigh is an ideal base from which to explore this fascinating region.We are also ideally situated as a stopover on the way to Dubbo zoo.

Property

Chesleigh is a 3000acre property, not a working farm, but a wildlife refuge teeming with natural wildlife in its own environment.There are caves, creeks, river frontage, lookouts from the high country and many relics from the gold days. Add to this our lovely accommodation, gardens, wonderful cooking and many facilities and activities and we are a vital stay at least once or many times for you and your group, be that your partner, family, club or social circle.
